Station to Station Queen’s Celebration is coming to a town near YOU!

Something really special is happening over the weekend of the 11th & 12th June 2016.
Millions of people will be celebrating HM The Queen’s 90th birthday and at the same time celebrating the vitality and creativity of our communities.

Railway Stations sit in the heart of British communities, and for the first time in history they are joining together to provide a stage to celebrate HM Queen Elizabeth II’s milestone birthday, providing a wonderful array of activities as part of the nationwide celebrations.

With a staggering range of festivities, there will be something for everyone from: Mad Hatters Tea Parties to community markets; Postman Pat parades to art displays; carnival queens arriving by train to bowls competitions; brass bands to station to station cycle rides; artisan food markets with mouthwatering cakes to face painting; live music to family picnics.

The key theme amongst all our events is to offer YOU – the community – a place to gather and wave your Union Jack flag in celebration.

Whilst celebrating our Queen’s birthday we are also highlighting the importance of our local public transport. Railways should be at the heart of sustainable communities, with stations being much more than somewhere you get on and off a train – places where people can meet, chat, have a cup of tea. In other words, hubs of the community.

Our ‘Station to Station’ event has brought together community groups, train operators, Network Rail, and a wide range of rail industry organisations, who are united in saying that railways have never been more important for communities – and the rail industry wants to go further in highlighting its importance to our country.

The rail Industry is embarking on expansion not seen since the Victorian era, transportation is now arguably the largest growing sector and our intention is that Station to Station Queen’s Celebration will also provide a wonderful platform to showcase the diversity of jobs, which we as an industry, have to offer. We are actively engaging with the entire rail industry supply chain to promote apprenticeships and career opportunities to the wider public; with a focus on the next generation.

Organisations across the entire sector including; Women in Rail, NSARE, Young Rail Professionals, ACoRP, Rail Supply Group, Rail Alliance, Rail Forum East Midlands, Rail Delivery Group, Network Rail will communicate a call to action to their members and the wider supply chain to encourage participation in what will ‘probably be the biggest event in the recent history of the rail industry’.

We have formed links with organisations outside
of the rail industry to help stage the actual events and bring communities together including; UK Scout Association, Community Transport Association, The Teenage Market, National Federation for Women’s Institute and the Institute of Enterprise & Entrepreneurs to name but a few; all wishing to promote their vision and values through collaboration.

Station to Station Queen’s Celebration is a not for profit event raising money for charities which sit in the heart of our local people.

For details on how you can become involved please contact Nimble Media Limited, the organisation charged with responsibility for coordinating this historic event.

I am delighted that at last the rail industry is finally putting its head above the parapet and demonstrating the social and economic impacts the industry brings to society. What a great way to celebrate this momentous occasion whilst promoting the vast array of apprenticeships and careers on offer
