The ‘Station to Station Queen’s Celebration’ aims to bring together operators, suppliers and member organisations as it opens doors to deliver one of the biggest events in the UK rail industry’s history.
Our plan is to show the industry as a ‘force for good’.
By supporting The Palace to simultaneously replicate the celebrations planned for London’s Mall across the rail network, we will harness this unique opportunity to give communities a platform to celebrate HM Queen Elizabeth II’s milestone 90th birthday.
The ‘Station to Station Queen’s Celebration’ will provide the public with events across the UK on 11 and 12 June.
Operators are joining forces with community rail partners and organisations serving the public, including:
- The UK Scouts Association,
- Teenage Market,
- Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs,
- The Community Transport Association.
Support and involvement is welcomed from businesses, entertainers, caterers, schools and organisations based around the individual events. If your organisation would like to become involved please complete the form below:
The Rail Delivery Group is pleased to support the Station-to-Station Queen’s 90th celebration: this unique event, will showcase the modern railway to local communities. Recent investment has transformed many railway stations and more stations will reap the benefits of renovation and rebuilding in the coming years. These stations, at the heart of the communities they serve, provide the backdrop for this celebration, giving the public, local entrepreneurs and voluntary groups the chance to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.
This landmark national occasion also serves as an opportunity to feature HM the Queen’s significant role at key moments of the railway’s history. Before her coronation, Princess Elizabeth carried out one of her first official railway duties when she named a new steam engine after herself on a visit to the train works at Swindon, Wiltshire. In recent years, the Queen has officially opened several significant developments including the Borders Railway, the rebuilt Reading station and St Pancras International and the High Speed 1 service.
In leading the rail industry, the RDG provides a focus for modernising the railway, improving customer experience and overseeing an unprecedented investment programme to help meet passenger needs as well as boosting the railway’s economic contribution to the country.

By collaborating with Sussex Community Rail Partnership and local Station Partnerships we know the events on run will provide enjoyable events for all the family. We hope that many will come down and get involved to celebrate this unique occasion.

South West Trains is pleased to be supporting this landmark event for the Queen via our community of volunteers. We are much more than just a train company, we are a big part of the communities we service. We are connected to and care about those communities and we strive to contribute positively and responsibly to them. We don’t do this because we have to, we do it because we want to. Putting our customers and our communities first is in our DNA. We are really proud to be working alongside out partners across the rail industry to be part of the Station to Station Queen’s Celebration’.
IOEE is delighted and honoured to be involved in supporting the celebration of the Queens 90th Birthday. This special landmark birthday is an opportunity to recognise the importance of the Queens contribution to many organisations and charities during her reign. Often in the fast pace of life our community spirit can be misplaced, however, this monumental occasion is a unique opportunity bringing together communities across the UK to celebrate, creating a legacy in which railway stations will be at the very heart of our communities providing outlets for small and micro businesses and space for community activities and projects to begin and flourish. We are proud to be able to contribute to this and look forward to playing a role in this historic occasion.
Responsible Consulting: “Coming from a small town in Yorkshire where the railway line cuts directly through the centre of town; having the railway station at the heart of the community is something I grew up with. A chance to be involved with the Queens Station to Station Celebration is not only a wonderful opportunity but also the chance to encourage other communities to experience the kind of community hub I was lucky enough to grow up with.

The charity has been working closely with the rail industry for over 20 years, helping over 270,000 street children in this time. Its annual Three Peaks Challenge by Rail is a fantastic example of how support from the industry makes a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children. Many rail companies are involved in ensuring the special train, now in its 14th year, runs smoothly and raises invaluable funds.

Although this is a one day event, we believe it has the capacity for connecting people and communities across the country, with the railway being the conduit for social solidity and community cohesion. Over the past 90 years the railway has been at the heart of our nation’s industrial and social being.

Some of our members were involved in other major events including London 2012 and the Rugby World Cup, we see our involvement in Station to Station as an opportunity for everyone in that local community to be part of these celebrations with the support of our members. Together, we provide a world-class network – setting new standards – of accessible shuttle bus provision to venues and transport hubs for people with restricted mobility.

The Rail Alliance is thrilled to be supporting Station to Station, a wonderfully iconic event that not only serves to commemorate the Queen’s birthday, but to celebrate the Great British railway sector. From cutting edge technology to heritage traditions, rail is an industry that unites the country on a commercial and community level and is one that offers so much about which to enthuse. Whilst our role is normally deeply ensconced within the less public face of railway, i.e. the B2B arena, The Rail Alliance is delighted to support Station to Station because we want to help the nation sing rail’s praises and help the general public learn about all that the sector has to offer. Many of us have heard the “new golden era of rail” phrases being used in the popular press – Station to Station is a great way to showcase Britain’s railways and reciprocate the sense of community that one feels when working within the sector by sharing our pride of the industry with the wider public.
